Ground Control Points
Our commercially manufactured Ground Control Points are delivered to your site ready to use. Buy as an option to making your own. Constructed from lightweight polypropylene and printed with a contrasting surface pattern. These GCP are arguably the most cost-effective product of this type available on the market today.

These GCP have many advantages over other designs (select item for more details):
Low cost
Our GCP cost less to buy than obtaining the consumables necessary to construct your own.
Weight
These GCP weigh just 300 grams. Their internal corrugated construction makes them light yet still rigid and easy to handle. There is no need for machinery or teams to safely lift our GCP for transport or into position on site. Given their construction they cost less to freight than heavy alternatives.
Size
The pads are 544 x 544 mm. They are large enough to be visible at flight heights up to 120 m. They can be carried with 3rd party products like AeroPoints in their storage bag.
Profile
At 5 mm thick these GCP are rigid, yet thin enough to be close to ground. AeroPoints can be easily located over the GCP from which a survey reference location can then be obtained.
Pattern
The base pattern is a triangular design and to provide better integration with AeroPoints. A coordinate reference mark is printed on the centre of each pad. This design ensures an unambiguous reference location can be identified on the GCP surface.
The pad includes an identification panel where a reference ID can be written. This improves QAQC, particularly when there is a reliance to report maintenance requirements to others.
Compatibility with survey equipment
Our GCP are designed to work with any GNSS receiver staff, as well as pad based GNSS receivers (AeroPoints). Pad size allows a tripod to be placed over the top when multiple survey readings are being recorded. Alignment lines are embossed on the surface aiding positioning of AeroPoints over the pad centre.
Ease of installation
Our GCP can be affixed to either hard or unconsolidated surfaces. There are multiple ways to affix this type of GCP:
- pinning the board directly through the central reference
- pegging, staking or weighing down the corners
- adhesive glues or double-sided tape
Health and safety
Not only do these light weight GCP remove associated lift and carry risk of transporting and installing heavier alternatives (like concrete pavers), but having a pre-printed surfaces means there is no need to employ the use of expensive and hazardous spray paint.
